NA-249 recount: PPP s Abdul Qadir Mandokhel emerges winner once more

NA-249 recount: PPP s Abdul Qadir Mandokhel emerges winner once more Pakistan Sun, May 09, 2021 PPP has once more emerged the winner of the NA-249 by-poll, and by an even greater margin of votes after the recount ordered by the Election Commission of Pakistan. After a recount of votes polled across all 276 stations, PPP candidate Abdul Qadir Mandokhel got 15,656 votes, whereas PML-N candidate Miftah Ismail secured 14,747, meaning a victory margin of 909 votes. When the unofficial by-poll results were first announced, Mandokhel won with 16,156 votes, whereas Ismail came in second with 15,473, resulting in a difference of 683 votes. The low margin of votes had prompted Ismail to petition the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold a recount. The ECP, accepting Ismail s application for a hearing, issued a stay order, withholding results of the by-poll.

PPP to become part of NA-249 vote recount process today

Karachi May 6, 2021 The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has announced that they have accepted the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to recount the votes of the NA-249 by-poll held in Karachi on April 29. Addressing a news conference on Wednesday, Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani said that they would become a part of the vote recount process that is going to take place on Thursday (today). Ghani, who is also the PPP’s Karachi president, said that they would not challenge the decision of the ECP to recount the votes in any court. He suspected that there were certain forces behind the decision taken in Islamabad to recount the votes without any solid evidence or proof to order such a move.
